Sherwood Explorers


The Sherwood Police Department Explorer Program is for young adults age 13 to 20 that have an interest in Law Enforcement.
They meet the 2nd Saturday of each month at Harmon Rec Center from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Cost is $20.00 per year with uniform shirts being provided by the police department.

Exploring is a worksite-based, hands on program that gives youth an opportunity to visit community organizations and explore the dynamics of police work.
Classes include:

  • History of Law Enforcement
  • Patrol Procedures
  • Traffic Control and Accident Investigation
  • State and Local Laws
  • Basic First Aid
  • Radio Procedures
  • Traffic Stops
  • Crime Scene Search Techniques
  • Community and Public Relations
  • Patrol Ride Along Program

The Explorers also do fundraisers for the post, traffic control for parades and special events. Officers and Explorers participate in many recreational events including swimming, canoeing, boating, and paintball.
